The 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 and Sierra HD are each receiving numerous updates to their trailering offerings. With new trailering technology and enhanced towing capacities, these powerful trucks make for even more enjoyable family adventures.
Both the Sierra light-duty and heavy-duty models now offer available innovations, like Jack-Knife Alert, which warns of possible jack-knife situations, and the Trailer Length Indicator, which helps you decide when to switch lanes. The trucks also have gained improvements to the Rear Side View, Cargo Bed View, and Rear Trailer View for better precision when maneuvering.
For the 2021 Sierra 1500, the 2.7-liter Turbo has increased the max trailering capacity to 9,200 pounds, while the 3.0-liter Duramax® Turbo-Diesel has increased it to 9,300 pounds. Meanwhile, the 2021 Sierra HD tows a maximum of 36,000 pounds, an improvement of 500 pounds over the 2020 model, when equipped with the 6.6-liter Duramax® diesel.
The MultiPro Tailgate is also now standard on the Sierra HD SLE and available on the Sierra 1500 SLE and Elevation, making loading and unloading the truck beds a breeze. In addition, the new premium Sierra HD Denali Black Diamond Edition has 20-inch high-gloss black wheels for a bolder look and power-retractable assist steps for easier access to the bed.
Beneath all these great updates, one thing remains consistent with the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 and Sierra HD: They’re incredible trucks with tons of style and capability.
