Early this year, GM announced that the 2022 GMC HUMMER EV and Sierra 1500 Denali would gain Super Cruise™ hands-free driving technology. Now, the automaker has revealed more details on the new Super Cruise™ capabilities these models will receive.
Super Cruise™ is getting some major upgrades, including an enhanced navigation display. Through your vehicle’s navigation system, you will be able to view routes that allow for hands-free driving, as long as you have the Google Maps app. You will also be able to pull a trailer or boat hands-free.* And when a lane change is ideal, the technology will put on the turn signal and switch lanes automatically.*
In addition to the HUMMER EV and Sierra 1500 receiving these enhancements, the new HUMMER EV SUV will also offer Super Cruise™. And there’s even speculation that new Buick models will offer the innovation as well since GM plans to make the tech available on 22 vehicles by 2023.
Plus, if you drive a 2021 model, you may get over-the-air updates to receive the latest Super Cruise™ capabilities too. So far, drivers have used the hands-free driving tech on about 10 million miles, and this number should soon increase greatly.
