You’re hip to new tech, so you’re likely already aware of the massive 5G cellular rollout happening across the country right now. What you might not know, however, is that General Motors is working with one of the biggest forces in 5G to bring the latest in high-speed internet to future Buick and GMC vehicles.
Telecom giant AT&T has announced a partnership with GM to bring 5G to connectivity to Buick and GMC vehicles as soon as 2024. This 5G capability will be a major upgrade over the current 4G connectivity available in nearly all new GM vehicles on the lot at Anthony Buick GMC in Gurnee, Illinois.
If you won’t be ready for an upgrade in 2024, don’t fear. Owners of vehicles from 2019 and beyond should be able to easily migrate over to the all-new 5G network for enhanced data speeds.
Per AT&T Senior Vice President of Global Business and Industry Affairs Gregory Wieboldt, the goal behind this rollout is to “improve the customer experience for existing services while laying the groundwork for the next wave of innovation including autonomous driving.” This forward-thinking approach to technology is why GM vehicles are among the most advanced on the road.
Though you can’t get 5G on our GMC and Buick vehicles just yet, you can visit Anthony Buick GMC today to test drive an SUV or truck with built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi capabilities.
